Seven capabilities, one set of records
Practice software for UK accountants: client records, bookkeeping, tax and compliance in one system, in place of the five or six subscriptions a firm juggles today.
Seven capabilities, one set of records
Each part of Account reads from the same client record, so a client is set up once, and each VAT box and Income Tax figure can be traced to the records behind it.
Client register and deadlines
Carried forward · One record, carried onto every page.
Every client in one record, and every date on it.

Scroll sideways to read the whole screen.
Sole traders, partnerships, companies and more, with their contacts. A company's details and officers can be looked up from Companies House, and changes are watched.
Engagements, jobs and workflow templates sit on the same record: annual accounts, the VAT quarter, the Self Assessment season, onboarding. Start from a standard template and edit your own copy; jobs already open keep the stages they started with.
The deadlines list ranks every outstanding date as At risk, Watch or On track, and gives the reasons in words: tasks still open on the job, records still owed, an HMRC authorisation that has ended or will end before the due date. Reminders go out at 30, 14, 7 and 0 days.
Account watches each client's HMRC agent authorisation and warns the people who manage deadlines at 30, 14 and 7 days before it ends, so a filing is not blocked on the day.
Partners see time, work in progress and capacity in one place. Managers approve or reject each week of time; approved weeks are locked, and rejected time stays out of work in progress and invoicing.
- Client record
- Entity, contacts, engagements and deadlines on one page.
- Deadlines by risk
- At risk, Watch, On track: each with its reasons beside it, not on hover.
- Authorisation expiry watch
- Warnings at 30, 14 and 7 days before an agent authorisation ends.
- Workflow templates
- Edit your own copy of a standard template; open jobs are unaffected.
- Time approval
- Weeks approved or rejected by a manager; approved weeks locked.
Bookkeeping and reconciliation
Agreed to bank · A line ticked against the bank.
Import a bank statement and see matched and unmatched lines side by side. Journals, the trial balance and an accounts preview come from the same ledger.

Client documents arrive in one queue. Anything that cannot be read with confidence goes to a person, and nothing is invented.
The nominal for a supplier is chosen from what your own people have chosen: a default you pin, or one learned from entries a person posted or corrected. Each default shows how often it has been confirmed and contradicted, and you can pin it or remove it.
- Reconciliation
- Matched and unmatched lines side by side.
- One ledger
- Journals, trial balance and accounts preview from the same entries.
- Usual nominal
- Learned from entries a person posted or corrected, never from the system's own postings.
- Review queue
- Low-confidence documents wait for a person.
Tax computations
Cast · Added up, and the total agrees.
VAT, Self Assessment, Corporation Tax and CIS computed in Account. Partnership returns, payroll, P11D and National Insurance are computed in the same system, beside advisory tools for inheritance tax, capital gains, EIS and SEIS, and R&D.

Each VAT box, journal line, trial balance line and Income Tax figure carries a working paper reference. C202612/5 is box 5 of the VAT return for the period ending December 2026: the letter is the section, the number after it is the month the period ends, and the last number is the box. Open it and the evidence sheet lists the records the figure was made from and whether they cast to it. The reference is written when the figure is made; a figure whose source was not recorded says 'No source recorded'.
For clients on Income Tax, Account prepares each cumulative quarterly update from the posted ledger, sends it to the client to approve in the portal, and leaves a person to sign it off. It prepares; it does not file. A client with two businesses of the same type is not drafted automatically.
Returns and filings that are not sent through Making Tax Digital (Self Assessment, Corporation Tax, CIS, payroll submissions, and accounts and confirmation statements for Companies House) are prepared and exported. The export says so in a line such as 'Prepared by Avanti Account. Not filed with HMRC.'
- Working paper references
- VAT boxes, journal lines, trial balance lines and Income Tax figures, each opening its sources.
- Quarterly drafts
- Cumulative Income Tax updates drafted from the posted ledger; a client approves and a person signs off.
- Prepare and export
- Self Assessment, Corporation Tax, CIS, payroll, accounts and confirmation statements: prepared, never sent.
Review, and filing that fails safe
Ruled off · Closed only when it agrees.
A return is reviewed before it goes, and if something is missing Account stops and says what.

Scroll sideways to read the whole screen.
A reviewer raises a numbered review point against a figure. The preparer answers; a reviewer clears it. Points are never deleted: every raise, answer and clearance stays on the record. The title block of a return shows who prepared it, who reviewed it and who sealed it, each with initials and date.
The person who prepared a return cannot clear a point on it, review it or seal it. Raising, clearing and signing off a review need the Manager role or above.
A variance and anomaly check reads each VAT return and quarterly update and raises points of its own, by fixed rules: a swing against the last period or the same quarter last year, input VAT out of proportion to sales, a Flat Rate Scheme rate outside the published band, the same invoice claimed twice, a large first purchase from a new supplier.
Tick and Seal is how a return is signed off. The reviewer watches every box tick against its source, then presses and holds the seal for 0.9 seconds; holding Space on the focused seal works the same, and Enter seals with typed initials. Anything open stops it. If you have not confirmed your password recently, Account asks for it again before the hold.
Before anything can go, Account checks, in order: that the figures are verified and nothing blocks them; that warnings are cleared; that the client has a current HMRC agent authorisation and the VAT registration number or National Insurance number on file; that the client has signed the declaration; that HMRC has an open obligation for the period; and that the return is signed as prepared and as reviewed by two different people with no point open. Whatever is missing is named, and nothing is sent.
Account is being built to file to HMRC under Making Tax Digital. Filing is not switched on yet. What exists has been tested against simulated HMRC responses. The seal is stamped only when HMRC's receipt comes back, so today it reports 'Not filed' and says why.
- Review points
- Numbered, answered, cleared, never deleted.
- Two people
- Preparer and reviewer are never the same person; nor is the sealer the preparer.
- Variance check
- Fixed rules, no guesswork: swings, ratios, duplicates, new suppliers.
- Tick and Seal
- Every box ticked against its source; a 0.9 second hold; a stamp only on HMRC's receipt.
- Fails safe
- A named reason when something is missing; nothing sent.
Anti-money-laundering checks
Vouched · Traced to its source record.
Each client, and each beneficial owner and officer on its file, is screened against the official UK sanctions list, with a risk score recorded on file. Close matches are flagged as possible matches for a person to decide. The list is refreshed daily, and the file warns when it is more than seven days old.

Scroll sideways to read the whole screen.
Due diligence cannot be marked complete until that screening has been run for everyone on it. Where a check cannot run, the file says so plainly and nothing is recorded as cleared.
Checks for politically exposed persons and for adverse media need a licensed data feed that is not connected, so Account does not claim them.
Your practice remains the supervised party. Account keeps the evidence in order.
- Sanctions screening
- Against the official UK sanctions list, before due diligence completes.
- Risk score on file
- Recorded with the check, with the list version.
- No silent gaps
- A check that cannot run says so; nothing is shown as cleared.
Answers with sources
Cross-cast · Across and down both agree.
Ask about UK tax guidance and get an answer that cites where it comes from, or a plain refusal if it cannot. Beside a VAT, Self Assessment, Corporation Tax or Income Tax figure, 'Ask about this' opens the question in context.
Questions that carry a UTR, a National Insurance number or a phone number are refused, so no client identifier travels with a question. Every question and answer is kept for audit.
Answers rest on passages of UK legislation and HMRC guidance, each shown with its reference. When the passages do not support an answer, Account says 'I don't have a reliable, cited answer for that.' and stops.
It is not tax advice. The judgement stays with you.
- Cited or refused
- Every answer shows its passages; where none support it, a plain refusal.
- In context
- Ask about this figure, from the figure.
- No identifiers
- UTRs, National Insurance numbers and phone numbers are refused.
Your clients' side
Countersigned · Signed by the client, and kept on record.
Invite a client contact to the portal. The invitation works once and lasts 72 hours; the client chooses a password, and can later sign in by an emailed link or reset the password.

Clients upload documents, approve returns, sign declarations and sign engagement letters. Every signature keeps a record: who signed, when, and a certificate that shows the document has not been altered.
A client sees only their own records, through a login that is separate from the practice's. Invoices show how to pay; taking payment online is not offered.
- Invitations
- One use, 72 hours; staff addresses are refused as invitees.
- Approve and sign
- Returns, declarations and engagement letters, with a record of each signature.
- Separate login
- Client and practice sessions never share a sign-in.
